DIY vacuum cleaner filter

One of the main elements used in most modern models of vacuum cleaners are filters. For the correct operation of the equipment and extend the life of the manufacturers recommend periodically changing parts. However, if you do not want to spend time and money on acquiring new parts each time, you can do them yourself.

We will talk about ways to create filters at home in our article. The process does not take much time and does not require special skills.

Before starting work, it is necessary to find out the filter model built into your vacuum cleaner. There are various options:

  1. Membrane Widely used in most models. It is very simple to execute and use.
  2. Water filter. The basis of his work is the principle of passing air through a system with particles of dust and dirt. When passing through water, all foreign particles remain inside.
  3. Cyclone type. Based on the passage of air through a special cylindrical box. This method is much cheaper compared to previous versions.

Carefully inspect the equipment, find the necessary part and find out its type. You will need to make a similar option for the correct and high-quality operation of the vacuum cleaner.

Attention! If you were unable to determine the type of filter by appearance, look for the necessary information in the documentation or on the manufacturer’s website.

Once you have managed to find out the model of the built-in filtering component, you can begin to create it. Depending on the selected model, the plan and sequence of actions will differ, so we will consider several manufacturing options. Choose the appropriate type and follow the instructions.

Prepare the necessary tools and materials in advance to carry out the work. Also free up the workplace and remove excess objects to create comfortable conditions.

Attention! The set of tools and materials may also vary depending on the model selected. Refer to the description in the instructions.

HEPA filter

Now for convenience, consider each model. First, let's talk about the most effective cleaning methods.

To replace parts of this type, filters from the interior of an UAZ car may be suitable:

  1. Remove the old element, clean the traces of glue on the surfaces to be joined, and also clean the remaining dirt with water.
  2. Use a special knife or scissors to cut a suitable piece of canvas.
  3. Insert it into the new filter element of the air purification system.
  4. Use liquid nails or hot glue to join the edges of the parts, then allow the product to dry.
  5. Insert the construction into the housing of the appliance in its original place, now you can work with the vacuum cleaner again.

Replace component parts periodically for best performance.

Water option

To create a water version you will need to perform the following manipulations:

  1. Install a separator separating the air flow into the housing.
  2. Connect the pump to a vacuum water tank tightly closed by a lid.
  3. Place a small fan inside the tank to create pressure and expel cleaned air.
  4. Connect all parts to each other and to the main tube of the vacuum cleaner.

This option has the best performance for humidification and purification of air from impurities. It will be especially useful for those who are prone to allergies.

Attention! You can also use hot glue or liquid nails for fastening.

Cyclone option

This option is the most difficult to perform.

To create it, you need to do the following:

  1. Take the oil filter from the machine and place it in a large 20 L bucket or can with a tight-fitting lid.
  2. Make a hole in the cover to connect to the main hose in the vacuum cleaner.
  3. Make a hole on the side surface and thread a corrugated pipe into it to create a bend.
  4. Fill all openings with sealant to prevent particles from falling out.
  5. Combine all the structural elements with each other and attach to the vacuum cleaner.

Applying one of the methods in practice, it is possible to make a filter for a vacuum cleaner with your own hands without a lot of time and effort.
