How to remove the echo in the headphones

Many users while listening to music or watching videos on a computer, laptop, phone, face such a problem as echo in headphones. Why it happens? The reasons for the sound like in a bank can be: connecting new headphones to the device, disconnecting and turning on existing headphones, wire tapping or malfunctioning sound settings. There are several ways to fix this problem and therefore in our article we will look at all possible options for resolving this problem.

How to get rid of the echo in headphones using Windows settings

Using the Windows settings on your computer, you can get rid of the echo in the headphones in two ways. The choice of method depends on the type of sound drivers that are installed on the PC.

Driver Realtek High Definition Audio Driver

If you have this program on your computer or laptop, you should follow these steps:

  1. First you need to open the "Realtek HD Manager" and select the "Microphone" tab.
  2. Then in the pop-up window in the "Microphone effect" tab, enable the "Echo cancellation" function.

ATTENTION! You can also in the sound settings in the "Playback" tab, by selecting "Speakers" in their properties, adjust "Enhancements". If these actions did not lead to a clear sound while listening to music on headphones, then you should check the standard Windows settings.

Standard Windows Drivers

Every Windows software has a standard audio playback setting. In order to check their work, you must:

  • on the panel at the bottom of the screen, find the icon "Volume" and click on it with the right mouse button;
  • select the item "Playback devices";
  • in the "Recording" tab by double-clicking the left mouse button, click on the "Microphone" item;
  • in the properties menu, select the "Levels" label and reduce the indicator to the minimum in the "Microphone amplification" item;

  • then in the "Improvement" tab, check the box next to "Echo cancellation" and click OK.

How to remove the echo, if the problem with the headphones

If editing the playback settings on a computer or laptop did not give positive results and the sound remained as in a pipe, then the cause of the echo when listening can be hidden in the work of the headphones themselves. Alternatively, they may become unusable and, as a result, a new device must be purchased.

It is also necessary to check the connection of this accessory with a computer or laptop, the reason may be the discharge of the wire. You can also check the playback settings as follows:

  • go to the "Start" menu, launch the "Device Panel" and select the "Sound" item;
  • click on the "Record" label, and then select the "Microphone" item, right-click to open its "Properties";
  • then in the "Listen" tab opposite the item "Listen from this device" uncheck and click "Apply".

If an echo occurs in the headphones as in a barrel, first of all, you should check the connection of this device to the computer, and then proceed to control the sound. But do not forget that the main role played by the driver and their properties.
