Types of shelving

Racks are designed for placement and storage of various items in the room. They are widely used both in everyday life and in industry. Warehouses for finished or raw materials, library and archive storage facilities, equipment for outlets and shops - a small list of areas of their use.

What types of shelving exist

Shelf structures are good because they increase the density of stored goods, without taking up all the free space in the room. They are also diverse, it is convenient to place a certain type of objects on each of them.

Shelving

Most often, use shelf shelving systems. The frame of the structure consists of aluminum or steel alloys, and the shelves are made of metal or wooden materials. Sections are intended for storage of goods in any package. Shelves are made of materials of increased strength, therefore they are able to withstand heavy weight. They can be serviced manually, without additional equipment. Thanks to the design, any product can be conveniently picked up or swapped with another.

Shelving racks are used in various fields, however, they are most widely used in trade.

Frontal

Front racks are the most versatile, as on pallets, loads of various sizes and weights can be stored. Also on pallets you can store products with the largest range, especially FIN (1200x1000x150 mm), EURO (1200x800x150 mm). The section consists of a multi-tiered structure; metal is usually used to create it. Racks and shelves of such a system are cheap to manufacture, and convenient to operate. Such rack designs allow you to store various cargoes, providing easy access to them. At the same time, the storage system itself is not violated.

Important! Despite the advantages of front racks, there is one significant drawback. To gain access to the items laid out in the section, it is necessary to leave large spaces between the rows, which is inconvenient in a small room.

Cantilever

Cantilever racks are designed to store long loads, such as beams, pipes, car bodies and various furniture blanks. The frame of the structure consists of metal, with bilateral or single-sided consoles for storing goods. Also, it does not have a front row of racks, which facilitates access to hosted products. Often, consoles are equipped with special limiters for pipes, with protection from falling. Console systems are most often used in metal depots and industrial premises.

Important! Cantilever units differ from other types of rack structures where additional equipment for loading goods was not required. Due to its lengthy shape, it is already necessary to use a forklift with sliding forks in order to put the load on a pallet.

Stuffed

It is convenient to store the same type of product, without restrictions on the expiration date, in printed shelving systems. Most often they are used at manufacturing enterprises and long-term storage warehouses. The design consists of transverse beams and vertical frames, installed in blocks. The height of the frames, as well as the distance between the beams, can be adjusted to a specific type of stored product. To place goods, you need to use additional equipment, for example, forklifts, which can drive deep into the rack. Please note that the goods that were first placed on the shelves will be shipped last. They also save a lot of space, because there are no passages between the racks.

Special

Special racks are used to store non-standard types of goods that have a special shape, for example, wine bottles. Often, such racks are produced by the manufacturer on order, individually, when it is impossible to place goods on ordinary shelves, for example, such as tires or coils with wires.

Gravity

On the shelves of the gravitational rack, roller tracks are installed. With their help, the load moves at an angle. After the goods are placed on the conveyor, it reaches the unloading zone, where it automatically stops using brake rollers. After unloading, the place of the old pallet is occupied by a new one. There are no passages between the rows, so the storage area can be used more efficiently. Products with a limited shelf life are most conveniently stored on gravity rack systems. They are the most convenient, because they do not require the intervention of workers, but at the same time they are the most expensive, due to the automation of the process.

Mobile

Mobile shelving is the most perfect type, which has ease of use and overall compactness. The design consists of two parts that are connected using a platform. Platforms move on special rails. This allows you to economically use the extra space in the room, because to access a certain product, you need to open closed rows, creating at the same time one passage. Such racking systems are widely used in the construction of archives and warehouses. The movement of such racks can be carried out manually or automatically, using special mechanisms. The system is very convenient and efficient, but, like gravity racks, is quite expensive.
