Types of electric stoves

If a hob, a dependent oven and, which is a little less common, a section for storing dishes are built-in in one case, this is a full electric stove. Different models of such household appliances may differ not only in size and number of functions.

Types of electric stoves

The appliance can be conditionally divided into three nodes: a common control panel, hob and oven. The first is of several types.

  1. Touch - the device is controlled by touching the sensitive buttons or by selecting the necessary items from the menu on the display.
  2. Mechanical - the mode is established by turning the lever. Distinguish between recessed or non-recessed variations. In the first case, it is possible to "push" the control mechanism into the panel, which greatly simplifies the care of it. Not recessed are deprived of such an option.
  3. Electromechanical - control buttons.
  4. Combined - a combination of two or more options from the list.

With a hob, things are a little more complicated. Focusing on the principle of operation of the device and the main structural differences, 4 types of electric stoves are distinguished.

Standard

The first to appear on the market are surfaces equipped with a high-resistance current conductor. The heating element is hidden under a cast-iron "pancake" or the burner is presented in the form of a closed spiral - TENA. The indisputable advantage of the lineup is its cheapness. The disadvantages include a large inertia (slow heating and cooling) and, accordingly, a high level of energy consumption.
The surface can be stainless steel or coated with heat-resistant enamel. Steel is aesthetic, shockproof and durable. But it requires regular wiping, because the smallest impurities are clearly visible on it - even traces of evaporated water droplets. Enamel in this regard is more practical, but the use of abrasives when cleaning it leads to the appearance of unpresentable abrasions. Yes, and accidentally falling a spoon can lead to the formation of chips, which will soon begin to shine through rust or dirt accumulated in it.

Glass ceramic

Similar to a traditional electric stove according to the principle of operation, but very different in coating and price, a glass-ceramic hob is also not without advantages and disadvantages. Among the first to deserve the originality of design solutions. She emphasizes the sophistication of the kitchen interior.

Glass ceramics require regular maintenance with the use of special products.

Glass ceramic, with proper handling, is durable. But regularly runaway milk, dishes with an uneven bottom, and an accidental pinpoint strike can quickly render an expensive stove unusable. Such devices are more economical than traditional ones, but nevertheless the level of energy consumption is noticeably reflected in electricity bills.

Halogen

So named for the type of heating elements represented by intense halogen lamps. Since they are a type of glass-ceramic plates, the advantages have remained the same:

  • acceptable speed for heating dishes;
  • average power consumption;
  • esthetics, ease of care and durability.

The most significant disadvantages of this technique are the high cost of equipment and expensive maintenance. It is for this reason that they could not win the hearts of most culinary specialists.

Induction

The case when the high cost of an electric stove is justified by the same level of security. The stove simply does not heat up, because the principle of its operation is based on the reproduction of current in a closed loop. Simply put: there is no pan on the burner or the dishes are too small - the surface does not work. And the coating of the working device heats up only from the dishes. This means that the stove will be hot only under the pan, but not next to it. So getting burned during cooking has become much more difficult.
This also implies another plus: a decent level of efficiency. There is no “idle” operation; no electricity is spent on heating the burners.

The efficiency of the induction cooker is at least 90%, while other options are "pleasing" with an indicator of 30-60%.

The disadvantages include fragility of the coating of the plate and expensive repairs. But with a careful attitude, the equipment will delight owners for a long time. Including relatively small electricity bills.

By type of oven

One of the advantages of acquiring a full electric stove is that the cost of the combined hob and oven is much lower than the prices for the same appliances separately.

True, the size of the oven directly depends on the dimensions of the stove, and its functionality is often somewhat limited. Especially when compared with independent equipment. But a standard oven is enough to meet the needs of a family of 2-4 people.

With electric oven

The most logical solution: the same type of energy consumed as on the hob. The cost of the stove depends on the number of oven options. As with independent options, grill options, convection and other pleasant things are possible.
Advantages include a common food line with the hob. The disadvantages are a rather high level of energy consumption.

Combined

An economical solution for those who are not looking for easy ways. An electric stove is combined with a gas oven. Moreover, some of the burners can also be gas, which is useful for frequent interruptions in the power supply.

When purchasing a combined electric stove, it is important to pay attention to the functions of electric ignition and gas control.

The need to supply gas to the stove limits the owners in terms of mobility: simply moving if necessary, and installing where you want, will not work. But if the baking menu is a frequent guest, then such a solution will please with relatively small scores. After all, blue fuel is cheaper than electricity
